Quality home-cooked style of food exists, and it’s here with Dadding’s Kitchenette. Opened last October 2014, this food establishment in Makati is the obvious move for your Filipino comfort food fix. Dadding’s cooks up delicious meals that pay homage to the owner’s culinary heritage in Pagsanjan province as well as his own craft. It has the formula down: food rich in flavor + authentic Pinoy taste + quick delivery + affordable prices. Via Zomato, Dadding’s Kitchenette sent two of their best-selling “Special Inihaw” dishes for me to try. In this post, we’re going to tackle them head on.

Review of Dadding’s Kitchenette – Special Inihaw (Comembo, Makati City)

Service: ★★★★★

Dadding’s service is straightforward. You either dine in the restaurant or order food for delivery. For delivery requests, the food will be delivered for free on the same day or on a specified date and time with a minimum order of PhP 350. However, for now, deliveries are available only in the areas of Makati and BGC-Taguig business district. Operation schedule is from Mondays to Fridays at 6AM-10PM and Saturdays 8AM-8PM.

Food: ★★★★☆

Dadding’s Special Inihaw:

The tender and juicy Chicken BBQ (approx. 300g) (PhP 80) was grilled impeccably, maintaining an even balance of well-distributed barbeque sauce that makes for a clean and enjoyable eating experience. The flavor of the marinated seasoning was full of the BBQ taste. Each bite was neat and precise. Definitely get this specialty and go heavy on rice! 🙂 It’s the perfect food to bring during outings, get-togethers, and in-house events.

The Inihaw na Tilapia sa Gata (approx. 250g) (PhP 90) is a good option for pescetarians and seafood lovers. The fish was moist and mild in taste, allowing bold flavors of the coconut sauce to shine. With a nice finish of real coconut milk, the coconut sauce was creamy and a little spicy. It was made from scratch (kakang gata)—and not from instant food packs. I just thought adding fresh herbs and mixed vegetables to the dish will form a nice contrast and present a more aromatic combination.

Price for Value: ★★★★★

On top of great food, prices of Dadding’s Kitchenette are pretty cheap as far as Filipino viands throughout the city go. They’re enough for everyone to go overboard and indulge in a meal costing less than PhP 100. The portion of each entree can be good for one to two hungry dudes to share. If there must be only two descriptions to remember about Dadding’s food, they are: simple and tasty. With that, price for value gets full stars. 🙂

Maybe not for vegetarians, but the food does look delicious 😉 It’s nice to find a place with consistently good food that’s well priced.

One thing I really miss about the US now that I live in Denmark is the restaurant and takeaway culture. Everything is so expensive here, and it’s not very good. I can’t remember ever having a restaurant meal here that I wanted to eat again. I do a lot of cooking!

Actually, it’s always a more cost-saving option to cook your own meals. That way, you can choose healthier food with the ample portion for your appetite. But it’s just also good that we have restaurants and food caterers here like Dadding’s that can serve up really good-tasting food without the high cost. 🙂

Wow, those dishes look great. I get a little turned off seeing fish with eyes so the chicken would be much more my style. I love the way that they serve their dishes in leaves–just goes to show that we truly eat with our eyes first.

Haha. I used to also be scared to eat fish with eyes. My sister kids around and takes the fish eye to scare me more. Those were fun memories of childhood. Anyway, yes, the leaves made good presentation and that’s typical in Filipino dishes. 🙂

I never knew it was typical in Filipino dishes…just goes to show that I need to visit there. Growing up I was exposed to so much wonderful Filipino culture, and remember trying things that I had never knew about but they were AMAZING.

Dadding’s Kitchette is fairly new in the food scene, and it’s likely to be more prominent when its business expands and delivers to more locations. 🙂

Though I doubt I’d ever find myself in the area to visit this restaurant, the food looks absolutely amazing! The Inihaw na Tilapia sa Gata looks like it would be right up my alley. I’m a huge seafood lover! 🙂

This food personally wouldn’t be for me as I’m such a picky eater. My other half though, he’d absolutely love it! He loves fish and meat dishes so I could see him loving those two dishes pictured. The food looks so rustic, I like that element to it.

I also find rustic food appealing. Most of the time, they’re casually arranged on a plate or platter, garnished simply with fresh herbs or other natural ingredients to look bright, cheery, and tasteful. 🙂

Tilapia is one of my favorite fishes to cook with because it’s so versatile. Seems like this restaurant has figured that out as well. Looks good!

Filipino fare is wholly distinct from its Southeast Asian neighbors. While there are some restaurants in other countries serving Filipino food as their specialties, it’s still best to come to the Philippines for the real and complete dining experience. 🙂

This food looks good. That BBQ chicken looks cooked to perfection. I can appreciate the fact that they didn’t cover the entire thing with BBQ sauce.

I’m glad that they didn’t, to give those who would like to add other condiments such as soy sauce or vinegar to the chicken for a kick of flavor.

That’s good that you can have your food delivered. I wish that we had more options where I lived outside of pizza shops. A spicy coconut sauce sounds like something I would like, but I’d like it more on chicken than fish.

Those who work in offices in Makati and BGC are lucky to have Dadding’s. They can call anytime for food deliveries and they do not need to go out and be exposed under the sun for lunch.

I really like seeing the cultural differences in plating techniques. It’s tough to find a restaurant in the states that serves fish with even the skin on, let alone still having eyes.

Me too. Eating food with banana leaves gives quite a different feeling. 🙂 Trivia: the antioxidants (polyphenols) in banana leaf is reported to help fight cancer.

These are not counted as exotic yet but just common. :p Far more “exotic” food in the Philippines are the likes of dinuguan, isaw, etc. Fish and chicken? Not so.
