Not a day goes by when I don’t see people with cool nails. I really want to try the gel nail polish, but at the same time, I feel apprehensive when it would all go to waste once my nails start to chip. With that said, the best I could try is nail art.

It was almost a dream come true when I received the 12 Colors Nail Art Polish Varnish Paints Set from Tmart.com. According to the product description, these beautiful polishes are perfect for creating detailed nail art. This kind of nail polish is suitable for professional nail salons and nail art schools. Whoa, I’m not a professional nail art artist but just someone who is open to try new things.

I followed steps in video tutorials on YouTube, but no matter how clear the instructions were, I still was not able to achieve the perfect stripes, crosses, triangles, polka dots or even the French tip as desired. It was especially hard when using my right hand to apply nail polish on my left hand.Β After creating smears and smudges, I decided to spend a “little bonding time” with my sister, Leigh. I asked her to apply nail polishes and create nail arts on my nails. In return, I would do the same on her nails, with different designs.

So, are you ready to see the results of our creativity? πŸ˜† Okay, here you go.

1. cat; 2. horizontal stripes; 3. chucks; 4. strawberry; 5. random face; 6. panda;
7. eggplant (our doll named “Talong”); 8. snowy; 9. ladybug; 10. cross

11. duo; 12. xoxo; 13. cursive “L”; 14. banana face; 15. pirate;
16. cat; 17. abstract; 18. cherries; 19. fish bone; 20. squeamish smiley

What do you think? πŸ˜›

By the way, we also used our own (personal) nail polishes at home as base coat:

Review of 12 Colors Nail Art Polish Varnish Paints Set from Tmart

The 12 Colors Nail Art Polish Varnish Paints Set, valued at $10.59, includes a glass bottle and a super thin nail art brush, and 12 dazzling colors of shimmering nail polishes (gold, silver, white, black, grey, parrot green, orange, pink, blue, peach, green and baby pink). Net weight per bottle is 10ML and weight is 355g (12.52oz).

Likes
1. These polishes give nails a nice subtle burst of glittery effect.
2. The texture does not make the nail look too plain.
3. Price is affordable,Β one that won’t break your beauty budget.

Dislikes
1. The nail polishes did not dry up quickly.
2. The nail polishes have a strong smell that nearly made me hurl. They smell like paint and even if already applied on the nail and I already washed my hands with soap, the smell did not come off easily.
3. The application was a bit difficult since the polish comes out thick. Too chunky. Too gloppy.Β We had to be very, very careful.

    This is sooooo cool! I’m not a big fan of nail polish but I do appreciate nail arts so much. In fact, I follow some nail art artists in Instagram. It’s just that I don’t think I can maintain the paint if it were on my own nails. Thanks for sharing this post! And oh! You have beautiful hands! πŸ˜€

      Thanks, Prince! πŸ™‚ Yeah, I also follow a lot of users in Instagram who post about beauty stuff. The pictures are just adoring and imaginative but not ones which I would imitate every time.

    I prefer women with simple nail polish. I do appreciate flashy and multi-colored finger nails, but solid red has always been a magnet for me.

      I also prefer simple nail polish and nude-colored ones (but yeah, red looks great). But for the sake of this experiment, I’m willing to try funky designs. πŸ˜›

      Oh that’s one problem about online shopping for clothes and makeup – we can’t try the products before purchasing them. Anyway, prices in Tmart are affordable and reasonable so I guess the shades you got are still a good buy. πŸ˜€

      Haha wow okay. I also started from square one and didn’t know anything about coloring nails. It was only late last year when I started to get interested with nail paints and designs. πŸ˜› Thanks for joining, Stacy! Good luck!

      Thanks, Rebecca. Nah, this is nothing compared to others out there. I have less than 10 basic nail polishes – nothing to rave much about. πŸ˜€

      Hahaha thanks! Yeah we need to really practice. πŸ™‚ Actually I am more inspired and motivated now to get more nail polish colors with good quality and devote some time in the weekends to paint my nails myself. Good luck! πŸ™‚

    I’m a huge fan of nail polishes (i have hundreds in my collection >.<) but i totally suck at nail arts! My cousin on the other hand, is so creative that she turns her hobby into a nail spa now :). The nail art polish set looks really really cute, but i think i'm gonna stick with easier options (i.e : nail stickers) LOL. I joined your give away btw!

    I love the ladybird and the fruits as elements of a great nail art. The colors are so fresh and perfect for my spring mood!

    Nail art, like any other form of artistry, is dynamically evolving. I know a friend who is doing mentorship on nail art for full time. I think this is a strong niche after all. =)

    I like the colours but if they are not dry quickly it’s not good for me. I’m not quite a patience person when it’s come about nails paint..

      Yeah, I tried swaying my hands back and forth in the thought that the wind would help in drying the nail paint. I also blew the nail polish once applied. Both methods did not help. Boo. πŸ˜†

    Wow, cute nail arts πŸ™‚ I’m surprised that you can do nail art at home with the use of appropriate tools. I thought designs like this requires great skills.

      Our tools are just basic – no tape, no nail stripers, no nail dotters, and no special nail brushes. Maybe it would be easier to create designs with those stuff. πŸ™‚ Gotta learn. Thanks, Kath!

    Cute nail arts! I used to do my own nail arts but I’m no longer using nail polish in my hands. Being in the computer and typing in keyboard everyday, it gets chipped very easily. Sayang lang nail polish although I want to try gel polish next time.

      Oh good thing my nails are not that easy to chip. Maybe you have to take more vitamins to keep your nails strong. πŸ™‚ Yeah gel polish is recommended for you.

    The formula is thicker than it really should be with nail art, so I have started putting about half a dropper of Seche Restore in the bottle and then rolling it before I even bother starting to put any of these lacquers on my nails.
