WHAT IS GTMACCON?

GTMACCON stands for Gaming, Toys, Manga/Anime, Cosplay, Comics Convention, and it aims to promote local comics by featuring Pinoy comic book characters in live cosplay.

Now on its fourth season, GTMACCON adds six more comic titles to its roster, and these teams will battle it out at the main event on December 6, 2014 for the title of Pinoy Komiks Cosplay Grand Champion in a 4-minute onstage presentation.

WHAT IS ALPHARIO?

Alphario: The World Connection (commonly known as Alphario TWC) is a novel and manga project of Solomon Lim (Sol). The story centers around Dennis Blake, a 20-year-old photographer who wins grand prize in a photo contest organized by Shutter Technologies and is subsequently awarded an all-expense paid trip to Japan. Restless and curious, Dennis sets off in search of new friends as he embarks on a wild adventure in a different world he accidentally discovers.

As of today, Alphario has released a total of eight (8) books, and the whole set is available for 490 pesos. They also offer other products including prints, keychains, mugs, and plushies. Alphario has also been consistently active in Philippine comic conventions.

Last November 15, 2014, Alphario has been awarded as the Best Serialized Comic Book (Grassroots) in the Komikon Readers’ Choice Awards, an awarding ceremony that takes place every 3 years and aims to recognize the best comics in the local industry.

Recently, Alphario has been invited to join GTMACCON, and Alphario creator Sol, along with editor Wilhansen Li (Wil), promotions staff Lorianne Halago (Yoyi), and logistics staff Mark Par (Hiro) have joined forces to form #TeamAlphario, the first team where the creators are the cosplayers.

WHO IS #TEAMALPHARIO?

#TeamAlphario is composed of several characters from the Alphario storyline: Dennis Blake (portrayed by Sol) the photographer, Senjo Tamura (portrayed by Wil) the lone wolf, Franck Ringe (portrayed by Yoyi) the Shutter employee, and Eurid (portrayed by Hiro) the kyvix guardian. Aside from the main cast, #TeamAlphario also includes SPOT (portrayed by Ainsley Robes) the robot dog and Jinka (portrayed by Liza Ramos) and the rest of the Dennis Blake Fan Club.

#TeamAlphario has released numerous photos and videos online, asking for the support of the public by voting through a Facebook poll. If you wish to support #TeamAlphario, please do visit this link and click on the circle beside their name: https://bit.ly/teamalphario

#TeamAlphario currently rehearses long hours on weekends to bring everyone an impressive presentation at the GTMACCON 4 Main Event in the Fisher Mall UGF Event Center on December 6, 2014.

I also haven’t until now. The only time I’ve attended some sort of cosplay party was with my boyfriend and it was 3-4 years ago. This one is really unique because it features characters that are Pinoy-made! πŸ™‚

Me too! I am not a cosplayer but it’s just really amusing how people get into character to the point of even imitating their exact moves. Catch Team Alphario in Fishermall and don’t miss the chance to take a picture with them. πŸ™‚

That looks really cool! As a Japanese culture and all things kawaii lover, i’ve always like to see cosplayers and wonder if i’d ever be brave enough to do it myself, but i guess i just don’t have enough dedication haha. It’s great that you’re supporting local talents and i want to wish them good luck!

I think dressing up as a comics character is fine. Posing for picture is also okay. Just don’t make me dance or perform onstage in costume haha. I’d be totally embarrassed because it’s not my kind of thing you know. πŸ™‚

Secret fan or silent fan? Haha. You don’t have to put it in secret mode when you’re there. Let it out and have just the same level of fun as others will.

It’s nice to see Pinoy Komiks Cosplay here. I hope they try to bring back the old school comics that’s been so popular in the 80s.

I have outgrown comics and am not really into cosplay, but it is interesting how much of a following these activities have among the Filipino youth of today.

I’m not into both but it’s always interesting for me to see how creative they can get with the costumes and also impersonating the characters in the books.
