The last time we ate at Royal View Seafood Restaurant was on Valentine’s Day. I came straight from a date with Louie and spent dinner with my family. This time ’round, we had the opportunity to sample a featured set meal for fourΒ (bought by Mom from MetroDeal). We are well-acquainted with the food selection, so there was no great discovery. Still, this Chinese restaurant in SM Mall of Asia proved to excel in the authenticity of the delicacy; good tastes tingled in our tongues just the way we like it. πŸ˜‰

Review of Royal View Seafood Restaurant (SM Mall of Asia, Pasay City)

Ambiance: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜†

It’s hard to comprehend just how many people dine at Royal View Seafood Restaurant in MOA in any given day. The dining areas are massive, spread right across both “public” and “private” functional rooms. Chandeliers give a classy and grandiose touch to the overall modern, “imperial” vibe. Also providing a good visual impact is the wall opposite the entrance. If it were not for the poor air conditioning, this restaurant would be rated with complete five stars for ambiance.

Service: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

The management must know that the restaurant would often be busy, hence the count of the staff dealing with guests here. At Royal View Seafood Restaurant, I have no complains about the efficient and quick delivery of service. Treatment was amiable and pleasant. Tea was served as I arrived as well with the menu when requested.

Food: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

From the featured set meal, we got carbs, seafood and veggies in one go. As appetizer, the Combination of Soy Chicken and Tofu came out first.Β A maintstay of the Chinese table, these classic cold cuts remain to be aΒ “good for the neighborhood” bite at best.

The Steamed Shrimps were cooked well. Seasoned nicely, the shrimps were plump, not rubbery and just remarkable. We added ginger sauce to enhance the taste further. The result? Pretty goodΒ for something so simple.

You can’tΒ go wrong with the Vietnamese Spring Rolls either. These spring rollsΒ had a hint ofΒ sweetness from the sweet-and-sour sauce. Each piece was fitted with savory textures from the tightly packed vermicelli inside and a crispy and slightly crunchy exterior.

The SteamedΒ Fish with GarlicΒ consisted of soft fish fillet thatΒ demonstrated how carefully building subtle flavors can amount to more than the sum of its parts. It’s complemented well with thinly sliced garlic chives, spring onions and cellophane noodles that absorbed much of the light soy sauce taste.

Royal View Seafood Restaurant’s Yang Chow Fried RiceΒ can be noted as a treasure hunt in every spoonful.Β WithΒ smallΒ shrimps and veggies, this food would always be comforting, balanced, true to the ingredients and, perhaps perennially soul-satisfying. That’s why when you don’t know what to order based on theΒ long menu,Β take Yang Chow Fried Rice. It’sΒ the only one you need.

Finally, the Mixed Vegetables with SeafoodΒ gave usΒ quite a respite from the different flavors of the previous dishes. The giant squids and greensΒ absolutely did not miss that vibrant summer punch. Light and fresh, this can be a good start in your attempt to eat healthier this season. πŸ˜›

Price for Value: β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…β˜…

Chinese restaurants in the Philippines can be a hit or a miss. After all, isn’t hunting down good ones part of a foodie’s adventure? Royal View Seafood Restaurant in MOA is definitely recommendable! It’s is a good introduction for the Chinese food novitiateβ€”clean, bright, and reasonably accommodating.

For the most part though, eating here may not be for a casual affair because regular prices of food on the menu are expensive. It will take more planning than a typical lunch or dinner out. Preferably, since they haveΒ big servings, you should go and dine with a group of at least three to get the most variety of Chinese food.

Thanks to theΒ MetroDeal voucher, we had 66% discount (PhP 499 instead of PhP 1488) on our meal. Based on that, I give price for value a perfect rating; else, it still deserves at least 4/5.

On normal occasions, we go here for the vegetarian options, although they only have a few – but they’re GOOD! If you have not tried this place, do yourself a favor and visit soon. πŸ˜€

Seafoods are the star dishes here, and they should be, since the restaurant’s name highlights that. Food come in very reasonable prices, warranting a “revisit” anytime.

The menu is large and varied so even fussy eaters should find something to their liking. With pretty ambiance, this restaurant easily becomes eye-candy to many people come meal times. Hence, it is nearly always busy. The staff do their best to be efficient.

You must try eating here. πŸ™‚ The dishes are printed on easily understood menus (with pictures! yay!) and contain something for everyone, even with some very tentative/seasonal prices.

The seafood dishes were not very greasy, and were very well presented – much prettier than they looked on the menu pictures. πŸ˜€ And yes, everything tasted yummy!

It’s always good at times to dine at a Chinese restaurant far away from all the relatively homogenized restaurants in Chinatown Manila. Slap bang in MOA, Royal View is a really decent place to go for Chinese dishes, especially for a nice dinner on a weekday.

My mom surprised us with the deal and we’re just happy to know that she availed of it early on because the vouchers were sold out quickly.

As the name suggests, this place is a little bit more classy then other Chinese restaurants that have typical simple Chinese decors. Its “Royal” claims are actually kind of backed up by the sleek interior decor – so pretty. πŸ™‚

Nice looking restaurant! I feel a bit envious to see that even when you paid using a deal the foods were still very decent and normal looking. In Indonesia (speaking of my town, especially), when you use a deal from sites like groupon.com, they always skimp on the ingredients and the foods always looked like it was made half-heartedly, even for well known places like American Grill (personal experience) LOL

Oh well, some of the restaurants offering deals here in the Philippines via online deals site are the same as you mentioned. This is just one of the few that make customers satisfied even when they order food at discounted prices. πŸ™‚

I am really tempted to get Metro deal vouchers but those coupon deals have a lot of negative feedback eh. Or maybe I chanced only on the negative feedback always.

Just want to ask how big their servings are…

I purchased 2 set meals good for 8-10 persons and 13 persons will dine… Would it fit? Or should I order more?

    Thanks in advance!!!

Hi Renier. 1 set meal is okay for four people to share. Your two set meals now may be enough for 8-10 (depending on the appetite). I think you should buy another set. πŸ™‚ Welcome!
