Diet food deliveries. Gone are the days when people used to think that diet food cannot be yummy. With online recipes available and articles sharing tips on how to prepare good-tasting meals, people today are more equipped with the knowledge on how to live healthier and carefully choose healthy food. The problem is that not everyone has the time or the discipline to grab healthy ingredients from the grocery, cook the meals, or order healthy food from restaurants on a regular basis.

As a helpful solution, a lot of businesses now offer a completely dynamic and personal service. One of them I’ve tried recently was Yummy Diet PH. In this post, let me share with you the food and delivery service provided in Yummy Diet’s 5-day program.

Review of Yummy Diet PH (5-Day Program and Food Delivery)

Food: ★★★★☆

My normal daily calorie intake is between 1200 to 1500 calories. Since I didn’t intend to lose weight, I ordered Yummy Diet’s 1500 Calorie Diet.

If I didn’t know that these food were diet food, I would have assumed that they’re just “normal food” for me since I’m lucky to have my mom prepare food for us like that. The difference is that while we are fed with 90% vegetarian food and seafood and maybe 10% meat at home, Yummy Diet PH strikes a good balance with vegetables, meat, seafood, poultry, fruits, and pastries/biscuits in the entire week.

I liked that Yummy Diet’s meals were not composed of those just straight out of cans but were really well thought out. Even the names of the food gave the impression that they’re like gourmet-style! (You’ll see below.) 🙂

Presentation-wise, the food looked good and quite nice considering that they’re diet meals. If I were to eat with my eyes, these would be ones I’d be excited to eat.

The flavors neither tasted too bland nor overpowering. When compared against “typical food” served by mainstream restaurants though, the contrast would be apparent. However, considering that these were healthy homemade meals, they were all satisfyingly yummy, indeed!

It’s also worth to mention that the instruction label on each microwavable container was simple and easy to read. It stated with a check mark whether the food was for breakfast, lunch, or dinner, and whether or not reheating was required, the food had to be chilled, or adding hot water was needed.

The portions were enough for me not to feel hunger within the day. Timing definitely played an important factor. Watching the clock, I took breakfast at 7am, morning snack and lunch at 11:30am, afternoon snack at 4:30pm, and dinner at 6:30pm. I also kept myself hydrated by drinking three gallons of water throughout the day.

I just have a concern regarding the freshness of the greens in the salads. Once the Yummy Diet food package arrives, it’s immediately placed inside the refrigerator to prevent spoilage and ensure proper food handling. So I’m not sure why the leaves turn yellowish when I open the containers at mealtime. 😐

Here’s a list of the meals sent to me last week (January 26-30, 2015). All marked with an asterisk (*) are those I liked the most.

Price for Value: ★★★★☆

What I regard as affordable is anything PhP 100 or less per meal per day. Taking up the 1500-calorie plan at PhP 2150 for five days equates to like PhP 430 per day or PhP 86 per meal (computed for 5 meals). I thought that’s a pretty good deal already, since I was pleased with both the food and the delivery service (not one instance when it arrived late). It’s also a plus that Yummy Diet offers FREE delivery, except to addresses in Southern Metro Manila which will incur an additional charge of Php 200 per week.

If you think that the price is still too much, I suggest creating a budget to fit your finances and put a little time aside each week to plan nutritious and realistic meals. Otherwise, diet food delivery such as Yummy Diet PH can be a sustainable way for you to eat healthy and get lean. It’s convenient, hassle-free, and time-saving. 🙂

It is the convenience of diet food delivery services that appeals to people committed to make a positive life change. It’s only a plus when diet food served happened to be yummy at the same time. 🙂 Yummy Diet is one fine example.

Thanks for an honest review! I had never heard of Yummy Diet before, but definitely similar programs. I think this is a great option for anyone that is on-the-go too, as they are relatively healthy meals and can be taken just about anywhere. I know my Mom would love them!

Sure, you can ask your mom to try their service. The weekly or monthly trips to the grocery store may seem daunting and difficult to someone trying to shed pounds.

I have heard of similar programs…and they sound great! This a great option for people. Also, I do think that healthy food shouldn’t equate to ‘diet’…people need to learn that it’s a ways of life 😉

Right. I appreciate that the obvious that Yummy Diet chefs really put effort in planning out the menu each week and make sure that the food is really cooked well.

These meals look delicious! We have a few companies like this over in the US, but I’ve never tried any of them as I generally love to cook.I have to say, though, there are definitely days where having a service like this would be a lifesaver! These meals look incredibly nutritious, I’m not sure I’ve seen one advertised around here that looks as whole and delicious as this one, I’m glad you found a company that can provide such an incredible service to you!

You’re welcome, Amanda! It’s normal for most people to feel frustrated in choosing what to eat and just focus on eating healthy to lose weight. Being strict in eating only the food provided by Yummy Diet or anything similar does offer a pretty simple way for you to eat right without all the usual hassles.

Right. This is why it’s also great if you can check out the dietary requirement with your doctor before taking or subscribing to a diet plan. I mean it would be safer.

Right. Actually, if I live in my own place and didn’t have someone to prepare food for me, I might just have food delivered by Yummy Diet every week. What’s good is that customers are not tied to a contract. We can cancel the service anytime we want and if we decide to start over, we can always restart the program.

Those do look really good! I’ve always wanted to try one of those services but know that if my kids saw me eating something else there would be a whole lot of complaining lol

But I totally agree that if it goes with your lifestyle its a perfect way to keep your diet healthy without a lot of trouble.

Haha I think it’s okay to have a cheat day or maybe two in the weekends. You may also allow yourself to eat something else when you feel really hungry. Subscribing to a diet plan does not mean that you have suffer out of extreme hunger. 😛

I definitely love the idea of diet meal caterers! We have a cook in the house so mostly we eat healthy house-cooked meals (we have this tradition of going out for meals only once or twice in the weekend ever since i was little and i still love doing that now, i even feel a bit weird eating out on weekdays), but i’d love to try out diet meals done by the experts and maybe lose a few kilos! I agree that the foods from Yummy Diet PH may not look as appetizing as restaurant meals, but as diet meals they look quite fantastic!

Aside from what you’ve said, what I like about Yummy Diet is that the meals are placed in microwavable containers so I just have to go to our cafeteria and ask the person to thaw or heat the food in the oven for a couple of minutes. It’s super easy! 🙂

These meals look awesome!! Some diet plans I’ve seen can be on the plain side; salads, steamed chicken breast, and lentils… In contrast, all of these look appetizing, and combine a variety of flavors and textures – I’d eat all of these happily! (I was particularly impressed to see a chicken curry.) This sounds like a great program, and easy way to get healthy, fresh food conveniently delivered. :9

All this food actually does look really yummy to eat for diet food, that’s awesome! The red rice, didn’t know there was such a thing. Is red rice better for you than brown rice? I heard black rice was good for you. I wonder if I could red rice over here some where. I haven’t really tried meal planning for diets, I just eat healthier than i was before, that seems to be working for me.

Red rice has an antioxidant pigment called anthocyanins. This antioxidant is beneficial to reduce symptoms of inflammation, allergy relief, cancer prevention and weight loss management. Aside from that, red rice is packed with nutrients such as B-vitamins, iron, calcium and zinc.

Brown rice is said to be rich in vitamins and minerals including B-vitamins and magnesium, manganese and selenium. The B-vitamins that is contained in brown rice have similar benefits to red rice.

I don’t know about black rice but I have also tried it once in the supermarket when they were having promotion (free taste). It tasted bland and the texture is quite the same.
