Many individuals swear by their smartphones. These internet-capable, hand-held gadgets are perhaps the solutions to many of their day-to-day problems. Want to find out what’s going on the world today? Reading the news on the phone’s web browser can do that. How about locating a specific restaurant downtown or conference rooms in Manila? No problem. Turn on the GPS and internet (be it mobile data or Wi-Fi) and type the keywords in your respective map or other related application such as Zomato. What about keeping in touch with a high school pal? Social networking sites like Facebook and Twitter have mobile app versions as well.
Capitalizing on the Power of Smartphones for Business
The smartphone-craze has reached Philippines shoes as evidenced by the 39% increase of smartphone sales reported last year. The rise of affordable and homegrown phones has also prompted more Pinoys to join the bandwagon.
Indeed, to own a smartphone nowadays isn’t just a luxury but also considered a necessity. This specifically applies to both employees and employers.
Let’s focus on the latter.
A lot of smartphone manufacturers tailor their handsets according to the needs of businesspeople. They make phones that enable a plethora of apps to function. From then on, accessing documents, watching recorded seminars, replying emails have never been this convenient.
In a marketing perspective, smartphones can make or break a business owner. How?
Online presence went mobile ever since the inception of such nifty gadgets. It has indeed become an integral part of marketing for both SMEs and corporations. With just a tap of the finger, consumers can find what they are looking for. As long as you play your cards right, it won’t be long before your target audience can find your business.
-
Generating new leads. People want information right then and there — and they want it on their smartphones. Banking in on mobile marketing is a fantastic way of letting your customers know where you are and what you are up to. If you have a website or blog, make sure it is optimized for mobile use.
-
Increasing sales. Existing marketing methods can only do so much. This generation is definitely inclined to anything over cyberspace. It’s a complete miss not to enjoy the low cost and high attention rates brought about by mobile marketing.
-
Connecting with customers. Building solid relations with your market is key to long-term success. This becomes even more possible with the advent of smartphones. With your company’s social media pages and website/blog, customers can now interact with you. In return, their feedback can guide you in your future strategies — be it customer service improvement or new product ideas.

A lot of companies doing their own brand of smartphones, since technology changed.
Sometimes it’s hard to compete or just be “in the know” with the advancements.
smartphones are really very effective in every field these days in all types of use, whether it’s personal or pure business.
Very much agree! In today’s world, users of technology are far from those of a decade ago. It is a necessity for everyone to constantly be in touch with their friends and colleagues. Nobody wants to be left out from finding out everything from serious corporate or business meetings to who’s dating who! The one solution for all is a smart phone; it keeps you in touch with the world while you are on the go.
yup,we can’t even imagine a single moment without smartphone in these days.
Even while eating, people are using their smartphones. What more else when communicating with others for business meetings, right? 🙂
Great blog. I can’t live without my smart phone for personal and business. I love that I can connect with my readers and followers on the go.
Thanks! I know there are social apps for that. A smart phone can also run spreadsheet software and word processing offering you a virtual office in the palm of your hand.
Great post. I couldn’t live without my phone
Thanks! Haha not being able to live without your phone may be too exaggerated. Probably the realistic thing to say is that life is difficult without your phone. 😛 There are endless choices when looking for a smart phone but in the end it is all about personal preferences.
Couldn’t agree with you more, smartphones becomes a necessity nowadays than a luxury, though I’m trying to discipline my self so hard not to look at my iPad most of the times to check Fb 🙂
Yes. If you are one of those busy bloggers that find juggling writing and life difficult, a smart phone can come to your rescue. 😀
I think almost everybody has a smartphone now so some smartphone features can really be maximize for business too.
Yup, It is one of the blessed gadgets ever invented for business professionals who find 24 hours too short for an entire day.
Yes, it really makes the processes more efficient.
Technology is a two-edged sword though since it also intrudes with your personal life more often.
Well yes, that depends on the user.
In a society where people have become quite mobile and family and friends are often geographically separated, it is convenient to keep in touch through technology.
Smart phones are amazing. I can’t imagine living a day without the internet and smart phones mean i dont have to lug around a laptop or computer.
Yay for technology!
Hehe. I therefore conclude that your smart phone is not just a companion but a virtual life-support you cannot live without. 😛
It’s always a love-hate relationship with smartphones
In the end, you just have to use it. 😛
Smartphones, I believe are really helpful especially for those who maximizes its features that are helpful when it comes to business. Plus they are handy! 🙂
With a lot of apps that can be used, smart phones are helpful in day-to-day activities.
Some companies have their own way of communicating by the aid of selected network, but actually, they’re giving more ways to deal with discounts, freebies and other incentives along with it, even though it’s not actually fit for their operations.
Yes, most companies especially those with a large pool of employees sign a contract with their preferred telecommunications network and offer this benefit of paying incurred dues of users. By this, the employees will be able to communication and coordinate with clients, suppliers and colleagues in a more efficient manner as they can dial numbers without hesitation (without thinking that they will be charged afterwards).
The fast evolving mobile technology has brought a big changes in our daily livings or activities one thing for sure the benefits of it is (personally) people from high to low profile can now both enjoy what the technology can offer to us.
Yeah, mobile technology is not anymore a luxury but a necessity.
In any business, it pays a great deal to be creative and resourceful. Improving, enhancing a smarthphone just to meet the needs of every customer is the usual promotional scheme a producer could do. It is usually the end-user could benefit and sales or profit comes naturally.
Add to end users is the business itself. By investing more in communication, the company would have to reap more gains out of it. Creating meaningful relationships through social tools like mobile technology will allow the business to foster.
True! Smartphone is my sole business partner with my online business.. Info are easily gathered, transactions trouble-free done, communication’s pretty crystal. 🙂
That’s great but maybe you should also define some “working hours” or “availability time” when your business folks can call you up unless you are okay to be contacted anytime even during your rest days or rest hours. The most obvious effect of wireless communication in the workplace is the ability to reach people anywhere, at any time. I just think that constant availability can prove to be a distraction and an unwelcome intrusion during personal time.
Smartphones are here to stay and evolve, that is why more and more companies are adopting the BYOD (bring your own device) systems, because smartphones are now a tool for business too.
I notice that, too. This is essentially because wireless communication has had a dramatic impact on how companies conduct business, making it easier to keep in touch with customers around the world.
With the rate we’re going, I would be no longer surprised if smartphones will be used in managing our businesses completely. I have an online business and I have to constantly check my phone for updates.
Ah yes, for online businesses, mobile phones are a must. All transactions and deals are sealed and made through the network.
Even I who seem to be a vestige from the ways of the past have to admit that smartphones are very useful.
My parents were same as you. Now, they are also frequent users of mobile phones for business. This is another testimony that technology really changes the life and culture of humanity.
Smartphones are a total must in this day and age, even a total dinosaur like me cannot imagine not having a smartphone with me all the time now *LOL*.
Sure. Even my mom who don’t know how to use most of the features and apps of a smartphone is an iPhone user. 🙂
Smart Phones are great invention. They bring convenience to its user.
Yes that’s why they are an integral part of daily life so we can interact constantly with others whether for checking messages or emails, chatting or just playing games. 😀
I’m really glad that technology has made it easier for all of us. Smartphones has enabled us to multitask.
So far, smartphones are supplementing and not displacing computers’ use in the office mostly for “staying in touch” when away from our desks.
I can’t imagine myself without my smartphone. Cguro magiging helpless ako. LOL. But seriously, in this age, it’s a necessity na talga since it brings convenience.
Yup, mobile application access is even now replicating mobile voice experience: usage away from a fixed location for convenience more than necessity.
Minsan sa super dami nila.. iniignore ko nalang, lol.
Super daming apps or messages? You just have to take note of the important ones.
I agree that smartphone is now a necessity especially to bloggers like us. It helps us check our email, our FB page etc.
Convenience, not actual necessity, seems to drive as much end user behavior in the enterprise space as the personal space.
I’m not sure I can go on a day without my phone and internet anymore. Since I started freelancing, I communicate with my clients through email. Most of my work are done through the internet. The only time I can separate myself with my phone is when I’m on vacation.
Sometimes even when on vacation, it’s not easy to live without a phone. I still tend to miss checking my phone for text messages, emails, social media notifications and updates.
I agree with you, smartphones are no longer a form of luxury but a necessity to most people. And even if I find my latest phone quite more than of what I just need, I’m happy to discover a lot of amazing apps and functions that becomes vital to my everyday needs. Indeed, technology at it’s finest 🙂
I think people do not really need to own a high-end smartphone if a basic one that can support apps they mostly use is enough.
The start of the ultimate mobile generation. Someone said to me that in time (I think it was my professor in college), almost everything you’ll need will fit into that phone. I guess it is becoming that?
Yes, it’s becoming like that nowadays.
A good way for a company’s centralized communication that could help their jobs to the fullest and can get reports on time.
There are now apps which are specially developed for mobile devices to suit the need for people in the workforce to communicate and be informed in real time while they are mobile.
